Jump the solar system

One jump is how far the Earth is from the Sun. Mars is one and a half. Jupiter is five, Saturn is ten, Uranus is twenty and Neptune is thirty — and Mercury and Venus both go by before your first jump has landed.

Count them out loud in a car park and something happens around jump twelve: you are still nowhere, and even Saturn is already behind you. The four rocky planets are all inside the first two jumps. Everything else is the empty part. That is why a picture of the solar system has to cheat, and why a space mission takes years.
